Overview:

Blog flipping is a niche form of website flipping. There are several different effective business models to choose from and they range in difficulty from newbie easy to advanced millionaire maker strategies.

System #1 = The first system involves researching a topic that website buyers are interested in buying websites about. Then you buy an attractive domain name and create a uniquely designed blog about that topic to sell in the marketplaces for a couple hundred dollars.

System #2 = The second system is exactly like the first one except you’ll also monetize the blog by adding on a relevent product for sale. The product for sale can be created by you or a product you bought rights too. You should design the salesletter for this product to match the design of the blog. These package deals sell for several hundred up to the low thousands.

System #3 = In the third system we’re using website flipping to recruit affiliates to promote our products. You build blogs about your topic and then monetize it with affiliate ads to your product… OR you can join affiliate programs with a 2 tier affiliate program and
recruit affiliates into it to earn money from their efforts.

System #4 = In the fourth system you are buying from one of the flippers doing system #1 or #2 and then taking it to the next level through advanced Internet marketing methods. For example buying a blog with a great design that includes a matching product then hiring writers to fill the blog daily, recruiting affiliates to promote the product, and advertising the product with pay-per-click marketing. When you reach your own pre-determined monthly inome goal with this site you then sell it for usually 10x – 20x what you bought it for if not more.

Assignment:

  1. If you don’t have hosting yet then we recommend HostGator.com and by using the same host as we recommend you can count on future lessons working exactly like the tutorials say they do. First do it my way… If it doesn’t work then do it your way! :-)
  2. Next you’ll need to pick from one of the topics below, and come up with a sub-topic among the main topic. The sub-topic you come up with will be the topic of your blog…

    Weight Loss
    Natural Cures
    Weddings
    College Life
    Make Money Online
    Twitter
    Social Media
    Personal Fitness
    Affiliate Marketing
    Network Marketing
    Martial Arts
    Fashion
    Law Of Attraction
    Time Management
    Relationships
    Sports
    Entertainment

  3. Next you’ll need to buy a domain name from NameCheap.com that is related to your blogs topic. Here are some tips on buying a domain…
    • ALWAYS buy .com and sometimes .org or .tv (if it makes sense too). Never buy .net .info .me .name .biz or any of those others. Buyers and web visitors prefer .com over anything else. Sometimes if it’s all video based then .TV makes sense and sometimes if you are creating a site about a giant group of people or a “movement” then .org makes sense.
    • Choosing a domain name that will lend itself to good branding like “BrideZilla” is the smart thing to do. This will let you create a design that has a character and the buyers with deep pockets will understand and see the power of the branding.
  4. After you’ve bought your domain name you’ll need to point your domain name at your host. This way when you upload your website files aka install wordpress then when you type in your domain name it will actually go to what you have worked on.

This can be tricky for a newbie so I recommend calling your host and calling namecheap for help. However, if you have followed my system and have HostGator hosting and domains on NameCheap then I can help you. If you’ve decided to do it YOUR WAY then you’ll have to figure out YOUR WAY on your own.

    Syncing NameCheap Domains With HostGator:

    1. If you bought a new hostgator account it should have come with a free domain name… If you are using an exisiting account then call hostgator and ask for you “nameserver” addresses. (Specifically your ns1 and ns2)
    2. Login to NameCheap
    3. Click “Manage Domains”
    4. Find the domain you want to sync and click on it
    5. Now look for a button that says “Transfer DNS to Host”
    6. Enter in your nameserver info in the fields on the right (NS1 and NS2)
    7. Now log into your HostGator cPanel and look for “Add On Domains”
    8. Fill out the form you see once you’ve clicked the Add On Domains icon
    9. That’s it… Sometimes it can take up to 24 hours for the “syncing” to recognize that addresses have been changed.
    10. If you need help HostGator has 24 hour assistance and you pay them for that… USE IT!

Now you’ve got hosting (your land) and a domain name (your address). It’s time to start building your blog (your house).

Here’s a video showing you how to install a wordpress blog to your hostgator account…

Here’s a tutorial on how to install your thesis theme…

Here’s a video showing you how to install plug-ins…

Here’s a video showing you how to install 6 key plugins for your Wordpress blog:

Here’s a follow-up video showing you how to configure the AdRotate plugin  for your blog:

Here’s another video that shows you how to add links to your blog’s sidebar and to the top navigation bar of the Thesis Wordpress Theme:

Now you just need it customized to your topic!

Login to your cPanel and change your password to something you can give to a freelance web developer. You’ll change it back to your main password after (s)he is done. Now you’ll login to Scriptlance.com (create an account if you don’t already have one) and post a project.

The project will obviously be for someone to customize your blog for you. This should cost you anywhere from $25 – $75 as all you’ll need them to do is add a custom header and background image to the thesis theme.

Here’s how to customize your blog with a header & footer:

We recommend you go with the Thesis Theme because it has widespread support, it’s what we use, very easy to customize, and buyers know that it’s high quality. You can however do things your own way if you need too, however you won’t be following our proven system… Wouldn’t you rather it be my fault if your site doesn’t sell?

SWIPE FILE: Sample Blog Customization Project

Title:Easy Blog Design

Description:

I need someone to customize my blog for me. This should be a very easy job since all I need you to do is add a custom header and background image to my theme. (Header image should include topic related visuals as well as a logo)

Here is an example of how I’d like my blog to look http://www.siteflipking.com – However my domain name is [your domain name] and my topic is [your topic]. So my design should make sense to my domain name and topic.

This should be an easy job for anyone who has designed a wordpress blog before. If everything goes well and the price is right I’ll probably hire the winning bidder for all my future projects. Please use code word “[make up a code word]” in your bid or I will not choose you no matter how good your reviews are.

Thanks
[Your Name]

Budget: $30 – $50
Skills: PHP, Script
Install, Logo Design, Wordpress, Website Design
Extra Features: NONE

After you post this project wait about 24 hours and then choose a bidder that has a good balance of positive reviews and low price. DON’T CHOOSE SOMEONE WITH NO REVIEWS! Sometimes they work out but 70% of the time they don’t.

Once you’ve chosen your bidder and the bidder has accepted you’ll communicate with them inside scriptlance via the private message board (PMB). This is where you’ll send a private message to him with your cpanel address and login info so they can get started. If you don’t know this info then call your host.

Do not pay or release an escrow payment to the bidder until you are 100% satisfied with the work. Then submit a review after payment so others will know what to expect from that person.

When all of that is finished you should now have hosting, domain name, and a custom designed blog. This should take you no more then 3 – 4 days if you’re spending at least 2 hours per night on your business. This concludes this weeks lesson!

Coming Next Week:

This week we covered the basics and building a foundation to work from. Next week we will cover adding content to your blog, making sure your blog is loved by Google, and you’ll hear an interview with an expert blog flipper who makes his living flipping blogs everyday.
